Reboot - Day 2

Morning:
It's 8:22 and I've yet to drink a juice. Instead I'm drinking a decaf tea. I know my pallete will adjust to the distinct flavors but today it's a bit intimidating. I really didn't like the ginger drink yesterday and Mean Green had too much celery...not a fan of celery. I made Mean Green again today but with half the celery. Ok, no more fear; I'm hungry and it's time for breakfast - Sunburst Juice.

Afternoon:
Breakfast was yummy but the recipe made only about 10 oz. so I got hungry faster than yesterday morning. At 11:00 I drank Spinach Lemonade and it's a good one, too. I'll repeat both of those juices. I drank half of a Bloody Mary juice at 1:00 and it's 2:06 and I'm hungry. I counted on being hungrier today than yesterday - and I am. I'm not in the mood for more Bloody Mary right now so I'm going to drink half of today's Mean Green. I made this batch with only 2 celery stalks instead of 4.

As today has progressed I've come down with the detox flu - headache (not too bad), body aches, and tired tired tired. It's making me crave coffee. And my bed.

I'm not having too many other cravings; it's just weird to not eat food. So much of my thoughts/day/time are about food, particularly junk foods. I tend to eat really healthy or really not healthy. It's one extreme or another. I love salads, veggies, and fish as much as I love ice cream, cake, burgers, and anything sweet. And I eat one about as much as the other, hence the extra 10-15 lbs I'm carrying...make that an extra 15-20 lbs.

I don't like celery; I am more sure of that today than ever before. Even with just 2 stalks of celery in Mean Green it was not pleasant. I guzzled it down about 3:00. Body aches are getting stronger, particularly in my legs. I've drank about 40 oz. of water so far today. I'm a big water drinker anyway.

Evening:
Had a deep, 45-minute nap and then prepped some juices for tomorrow - Sunburst, Orange Fennel, and my own concoction: 1 cantaloupe, 1 cucumber, and 1 Asian pear. I attended a Bunco fundraiser tonight. There were different cookies on each table. They weren't as tempting as the coffee and even that was tolerable. When I returned home I heated up the rest of Bloody Mary. No, it's not purest to heat the juice but I was cold and it's still better than canned soup...or ice cream which was my go-to night time snack.

  1. Questions: What is the cost difference in groceries for juicing as opposed to shopping for either healthy, clean eating or what you've typically bought in the past? I know you've just finished Day 2, but have you noticed a difference in your allergies yoor illness yet?

  2. I'm trying to get an idea of the cost, myself. I talked a bit about that in today's post. I use a lot of kale, almost an entire bunch for any drink in which I use kale, and it's a little costly. One juice uses 8 cups of spinach. I can get that at the .99 cent store so it only costs about $2. I'll have a better handle on the cost in the next few days.

I'm on 3 different meds for my allergies so I don't know that I can account any improvement only to the juicing. My energy and overall well being is already much better.
